JOINING NGA AHO WHAKAARI
WHY JOIN
There are many benefits of joining Nga Aho Whakaari, including:
ONLY MAORI INDUSTRY GROUP
We are the only industry group representing Maori working
in film, video and television in New Zealand. Therefore,
by joining you can help strengthen the voice of Maori industry
practitioners, play a role in developing initiatives which
will benefit all Maori, and meet, network with and learn
from other Maori industry practitioners.
NEWSLETTERS
You will receive regular Nga Aho Whakaari and other Maori
industry news and views.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
You will be able to attend workshops and seminars which we
run in order to develop the skills of our members in writing,
directing, producing and many other areas.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Each year we hold a National Conference, which members are
able to attend at substantially discounted rates. The Conference
is the only occasion on which all sectors of Maori working
in film and television come together to discuss matters
of importance to the Maori industry.
PROTOCOLS BOOK
Members will receive a free copy of the book which Nga Aho
Whakaari has commissioned on the Protocols for Working
with Maori Content and Communities in Film and Television.
DISCOUNTS
Various discounts are available for members. For example,
a discounted membership rate is available to join the Screen
Directors Guild of NZ for full members of Nga Aho Whaakari
who work as directors, member rates are offered for Maori
women wishing to attend Women in Film and Television events,
and discounts are available to most other industry guild
events.
